The airport of Punta Cana is the busiest in the Dominican Republic and the second in the Caribbean. It is also one of the fastest growing airports in the region with a 10% increase in annual traffic. Passenger traffic at the airport has doubled since 2005 and seems to continue to grow. In 2019, Punta Cana Airport (PUJ) handled 7,137,882 passengers, an important figure even for larger airports in the Dominican Republic. It represents approximately 60% of all air arrivals in the country
